Appears to be correspondence between a writer and her editor. Most of the ink has faded.
Dear Mr. L
It was very kind of you to send the latest publication. I see you have edited my contribution quite skillfully, and I am much pleased. It was a very little story, to be sure, and it shows great sense on your part to have made it even littler! — you are, after all, not in the business of gossip, and your readers prize quality over quantity.
Speaking of gossip, I have some for you. There is much talk over the deplorable state of women in China, though in all the latest publications people howl over the fact that the most powerful person there should be a woman. It just so happens that I myself am close to finishing a little story on the matter of Chinese women. You may be interested. I am afraid, though, the people in it are not so quaint as you often ask of me, nor so exotic as your readers ask of you. No, I am not at all sure you will take to it, but I have put more than I ever did into it. It will amuse you if you follow the news, anyhow. I will send it by the end of the week, after I smooth out the wrinkles..
Warmly,
Su
